The Real Issues

Historically, Denny Blaine Park has been a harmonious haven for neighbors and visitors alike, with many appreciating Seattle's progressive clothing-optional laws. However, the onset of metropolitan challenges in 2015 did not spare this community space. Concerned citizens filed a petition against the City of Seattle in 2017, demanding they enforce Seattle Municipal Code. Daily documented images highlighting the park’s transformation into a less welcoming and unsafe environment due to various illegal activities were provided as proof. Legend goes they began to make progress, and the City of Seattle’s Precent 12 police chief began to make enforcement a priority and the park began to turn around. But this turn around was short lived, as covid and Sawant reversed progress and the neighbor that lead this effort gave up the fight and moved out of Seattle.

The story is told that initial strides were made, with Precinct 12's police chief prioritizing enforcement, bringing a promising turnaround for the park. Unfortunately, this progress was short-lived; the challenges brought on by the pandemic, coupled with shifts in local policies, caused a reversal of these gains. The neighbor who was at the forefront of these efforts eventually relinquished the struggle and relocated away from Seattle
